What are the Arcus Awards?

The Arcus Awards are presented to companies, organizations and institutions that demonstrate exceptional commitment to leading the St. Louis region’s authentic economic strengths and championing a better tomorrow for our region. These awards recognize companies and organizations that make the St. Louis region the best place to live, work and invest.

The 6th Annual Arcus Awards, will be held on Thursday evening, February 28, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis At The Arch. The Arcus Awards align with the St. Louis Regional Chamber’s One Plan: a clear and comprehensive strategy adopted by a broad community of leaders united for economic prosperity throughout the entire St. Louis bi-state region. Our one purpose is to inspire a greater St. Louis. Together, we will make St. Louis a more attractive place for people to live, work and invest.

Company finalists for each of the award categories will be announced in advance of the event, and the winners of each of the awards will be announced live on February 28th.

What are the eligibility requirements?

For-profit businesses, startups, higher education institutions, non-profit organizations, and public entities are eligible for an Arcus Award nomination. However, a nominee must satisfy the following general eligibility criteria:

  • Complete the online nomination form at www.arcusawards.com. Self-nominations or nominations by others are both acceptable and encouraged.
  • Maintain a headquarters or substantial operations in the St. Louis metropolitan statistical area, which includes the following Illinois and Missouri counties:
    • Illinois counties: Bond, Calhoun, Clinton, Jersey, Madison, Macoupin, Monroe and St. Clair.
    • Missouri counties: Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, St. Charles, St. Louis City, St. Louis County and Warren.
  • A nominee does not need to be a current member of the St. Louis Regional Chamber.
What are the criteria for the awards?

Awards will be given out for exceptional leadership across these award categories:

The Ameren Corporate Citizenship Award honors a company, organization or institution for enhancing the quality of life and making positive changes that impact St. Louisans across the social, cultural and economic spectrum through philanthropic giving, community involvement by employees, and/or partnerships with state and local governments.

The BMO Harris Bank St. Louis Spirit Award honors a company, organization or institution for risk-taking, advancing an innovation, cutting-edge technology, or industry best practice that extends St. Louis’ rich history and global reputation as a hub of innovation and forward-looking vision.

The Arcus Award for Achievement in Regional Economic Impact honors a company, organization or institution for creating new, quality jobs in the St. Louis Region between the period of October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018. Nominees may be, but are not limited to Commercial, Retail, Manufacturing, Health, biosciences and any type of for-profit or not-for-profit business in the metropolitan St. Louis region. Nominees would be from all three areas of enterprises (Small, Medium, and Large) and would be sorted into the appropriate subcategories upon receipt of the completed nomination form. 

The Arcus Award for Achievement in Workforce & Talent Development honors a company, organization or institution for exemplary work in the area of workforce and talent development, by providing innovative solutions by leading programs and/or initiatives that make sustainable change in the region.

The Arcus Award for Achievement in Inclusive Business Solutions honors a company, organization or institution for exhibiting exemplary work in the area of inclusive business solutions by providing either a corporation or diverse business owner; achieving measurable growth in the business enterprise over a one-year period and/or has implemented an innovative solution which has included a diverse business enterprise.

The Arcus Award for Achievement in Entrepreneurship honors a company, organization or institution for providing leadership through the launch or growth of a start-up company, contributions to forming early-stage capital, or supporting entrepreneurship training.

The Arcus Award for Achievement in Technology honors a company, organization or institution for developing and using technology in areas which include, but are not limited to, advanced manufacturing, biosciences, entrepreneurship, financial services, health, inclusion, innovations, robotics, AI, etc. 

The Arcus Award for Achievement in Infrastructure & Transportation recognizes a company, organization or institution that has shown leadership and creativity for their innovative programs relative to transportation and infrastructure in the St. Louis region

The Arcus Award for Achievement Public Policy honors a company, organization or institution for providing leadership through the creation of a program or initiative that unites the public and private sectors to advance and secure policy necessary to make St. Louis a better place to live, work and invest. Examples of leadership in public policy may include coalitions or initiatives that reduce crime and increase public safety; create true equality for economic opportunity; strengthen connectivity within our region and to the rest of the world; attract, cultivate and retain talent; and bring about good government. 

The Arcus Award for Achievement in Cultural Engagement honors a company, organization, or group for the best example of leadership in organizing and successfully presenting a sporting event, festival, exhibition, media reporting, etc. which showcases the St. Louis region in a positive light; garnering local, national and/or international attention or recognition.

How will winners for each award be selected?

Winners will be selected by an independent panel of judges who are not employees of the St. Louis Regional Chamber.

What are the benefits of being an Arcus Award finalist or winner?

    Who can nominate?

    Anyone can nominate a company for an Arcus Award. Companies can self-nominate.

    Can a company be nominated for more than one Arcus Award?

    Yes. A company can be nominated for multiple awards; however, a separate online application must be completed for each award category.

    When are nominations due?

    December 10, 2018
