by Joe Reagan | Jun 26, 2015

I was pleased to join Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon; St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay; Lawrence Group CEO and Regional Chamber Board member Steve Smith; Bull Moose CEO Michael Blatz; Caparo Group CEO Angad Paul; and his father, Caparo Group Founder and Chair the Rt Hon. Lord Paul of Marylebone, for a news conference this past week at 634 N. Grand Ave., the site of the new Bull Moose corporate headquarters. Bull Moose, a subsidiary of the British company, Caparo Group, will expand its North American headquarters here and will create up to 25 new, high-paying jobs. The company currently employs approximately 80 people in the St. Louis region.

Our team, led by Vice President for Entrepreneurship & Innovation, and General Counsel, Jason Hall;  Vice President for Economic Development, Jim Alexander; and Director for Advisory Services, Lori Becklenberg, have been working with Caparo for months on the project.

This announcement also celebrates Caparo’s decision to invest in the Lawrence Group’s renovation of the Grand Avenue site, which is the former Missouri Theater building. The building will be home to a multi-use development that includes offices, restaurants and shops, as well as a 145-room boutique hotel.

On our European mission last month, Mayor Slay, Jim, Lori and I, along with other members of St. Louis delegation, met with Lord Paul and his team, inviting them to come to St. Louis to roll out this deal.

Caparo is a diversified global operation comprised of businesses that supply steel and niche engineering products to a number of industries including automotive, construction, aerospace, steel conversion and distribution, and medical among others.

Once complete in Spring 2017, Caparo’s Bull Moose Industries intends to occupy 25,000 square-feet of the newly-remodeled space for its divisional headquarters.
