St. Louis Regional Chamber’s Position on NGA Relocation

by Hart Nelson | Feb 10, 2016
The St. Louis Regional Chamber is very pleased the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) is committed to remaining in the St. Louis metropolitan region.  Keeping 3,100 high-skill, high-wage jobs is a confirmation of the quality workforce the region supplies and underlines the region’s strong contributions to our national defense.  In addition, the significant $1.6 billion investment for a new facility will create hundreds of construction jobs and incentivize further development.

The Chamber is fully supportive of public and private improvements in all potential sites within the St Louis bi-state region. We respect the elected officials and local economic development organizations that are advancing their best efforts for sites within their jurisdictions. Improving sites for opportunities is essential to competing for jobs and investment. Proactive communities win more often.

The final decision expected this spring recognizes our long history together and will cement the metropolitan region’s status as a full partner in NGA’s critical mission.  We are confident that the studies undertaken by the Army Corps of Engineers are providing professional and quality guidance to the NGA as they make this generational decision.  With NGA’s commitment to remain in our St Louis metropolitan region, we have--and they have--already won.
