At the St. Louis Regional Chamber’s annual event tonight, Ameren Corporation Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Warner Baxter was introduced as its new board chair. Baxter succeeds Suzanne Sitherwood, Chief Executive Officer and President of Spire (formerly Laclede Gas). “I’m honored to serve as chair for the St. Louis Regional Chamber and to support its purpose to inspire a greater St. Louis,” said Baxter.
As board chair, Baxter will continue to push forward the Chamber’s One Plan – to make St. Louis one of the top 10 U.S. regions in prosperity through greater educational attainment, economic inclusion, innovation and entrepreneurship. “Ameren has supported economic development and growth initiatives throughout our region for more than a century, and we know firsthand that a company can only be as strong as the community it serves,” said Baxter. “Working together we can create a brighter future for all our citizens and ensure that the St. Louis region is known as a top location for talented individuals, thriving businesses and a vibrant investment community.”
Baxter, along with Sitherwood, presided over the Chamber’s 179th annual event called The STL EDGE at The Peabody Opera House. During the event, St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay was honored with the Right Arm of St. Louis Award for inspiring growth and revitalization in St. Louis. The award was inspired by the thirteenth century Louis IX, the King of France, after whom St. Louis is named.
