The St. Louis Regional Chamber today announced Gisele Marcus has joined the Chamber team as its new Executive Vice President, Strategic Initiatives & Operations. Marcus will drive strategy execution for the Chamber’s One Plan for Regional Prosperity. As the organization’s chief operating officer, she will manage the Chamber’s strategic operations and allocate resources to help the Chamber and its partners leverage St. Louis’ existing economic strengths, create economic opportunities for growth, and support forward-thinking policies that improve the quality of life and prosperity for the entire St. Louis region.
“At the Regional Chamber, we measure success by how much closer St. Louis is to being one of the Top 10 most prosperous regions by 2025,” said Chamber President & CEO Joe Reagan. “Gisele will focus on leading the Chamber’s initiatives, programs and help us deliver the results and programming our investors expect. Her experience in strategic operations and her passion for immediate results are exactly what the Chamber, and our region, need.”
Throughout her career, Marcus has had responsibilities for strategic account and regional operations management for such international companies as Cushman & Wakefield in San Francisco and Johnson Controls in Milwaukee, Dallas, Chicago and Johannesburg, South Africa. An MBA graduate from the Harvard School of Business, Marcus’ extensive experience and knowledge will help the Chamber continue to innovate and streamline its efforts to better serve the St. Louis region.
"Gisele has a strong track record for executing strategies across an array of industries and global assignments. Her leadership skills will clearly help the Chamber achieve its primary objective to drive greater economic development in the region," said Warner Baxter, Chairman & CEO, Ameren Corp., and Chairman of the Regional Chamber's board of directors. "On behalf of the board, we welcome Gisele Marcus to the Chamber’s leadership team and to St. Louis."
Marcus joins the Chamber as it continues to serve as a regional leader for economic development and collaboration. Since developing and adopting its three-part strategic plan, the One Plan for Regional Prosperity, the Chamber has focused on building up St. Louis’ strongest economic sectors; creating economic opportunities through education, entrepreneurship, and inclusion; and advocating for forward-thinking policies that help the region attract investment, talent and growth. These efforts have included developing and implementing a regional marketing plan for business recruitment, leading a regional educational commitment to make college education more obtainable, and developing strategic partnerships in India, Ireland and across the U.S. to improve opportunities for St. Louis startup companies. In addition, the Chamber served as a much-needed regional voice in support of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency West expansion in North St. Louis City; MetroLink security and expansion efforts; and regional economic development cooperation.
"After 15 years of working directly with clients and operations, I am excited to leverage my knowledge and experience toward the challenges and opportunities in St. Louis,” said Marcus. “I look forward to working with my future colleagues at the Chamber, the Board of Directors and all the Chamber’s partners to advance economic development in the St. Louis region."
