• Regional Chamber Releases 2018 Venture Capital Investment Report

    Apr 29, 2019
The St. Louis Regional Chamber released its 2018 Greater St. Louis Venture Capital Overview report. The Regional Chamber has tracked and reported on venture capital (VC) investment in the region for well over a decade. Our objective is to provide innovation ecosystem partners as well as economic development leaders with reports on the state of venture investment in the Greater St. Louis metro area.

Overall, 2018 was yet another strong year for Greater St. Louis venture capital investment. The region bucked national trends by posting an increase in the total number of deals, and the amount of investment capital increased by approximately $55 million versus the year prior.

Biotech and agtech continue to be areas of strength for Greater St. Louis, and the region’s technology sector reported strong gains as well. The region remains at the inflection point identified in last year’s report. If, as early signs seem to suggest, the companies that have received a portion of the $2.5 billion in venture financing over the last decade begin to generate exits and wealth events, Greater St. Louis has the potential to become a truly self-sustaining innovation hub.
