House Sullies the Senate’s Fun as Sullivans take MVP Trophies

by Andrew Handel | May 25, 2016

It was a bright and sunny afternoon in Springfield, making perfect weather for the 24th Annual Illinois House vs. Senate Softball Game at Lincoln Park. Senate President John Cullerton (D-6th) had the honor of throwing out the first pitch to start a high-scoring game that the House won 15-8.  The House would take an early 2-0 lead after the first, but a 6 run inning by the Senate in the 5th would allow the upper-chamber to take their first lead of the game 8-7. The House would not let this hold for long though, as they came right back in the 6th with a few runs of their own and lead the rest of the way.

Representative Ed Sullivan (R-51st) and Senator John Sullivan (D -47th) were awarded the MVP trophies for their incredible efforts.
