The St. Louis Regional Chamber hosted the Illinois Public Affairs Network meeting on Friday, February 17 at the Doubletree Hotel in Collinsville, Illinois.  Alonzo Byrd, Assistant Vice President, Enterprise Holdings, Inc. addressed the audience about his role and company priorities at Enterprise for 2017. Byrd discussed topics from efforts to stop discriminatory rental car taxes to the sharing economy and how autonomous vehicles impact car rentals.   Enterprise has grown to become the world’s largest and most comprehensive car rental provider.

Lt. Mike Hundelt, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department, shared how they use multiple layers of security to ensure that all Metro passengers and operators stay safe. St. Clair County and uniformed police officers patrol Metro property and provide additional security and visibility throughout the system.  Undercover police officers are also used to monitor MetroLink and MetroBus services. Lt. Hundelt informed the group that crime is down in St. Clair County and encouraged members to consider MetroLink when commuting to and from the city.

The IPAN meeting ended with a legislative update by Kevin Riggs, Managing Director of Dentons’ Public Law practice.
